John Carpenter is back and he’s brought along another Halloween candy sack full of awesome tunes.

john carpenter looking cool as shit

Lost Themes II, the sequel to last year’s very best electronic debut has been unleashed upon the world a couple of weeks before its April 15th release date thanks to NPR. Thanks NPR! Now you go say thanks to NPR too. Go on. It’ll make their day if you send them a nice card or flowers or chocolates or something.

This follows the release of John Carpenter’s last single Angel’s Asylum.

John Carpenter has directed at least four of Methods Unsound’s top 10 films ever, most of them starring Kurt Russell, and as a film composer he is one of the very best. It goes Carpenter>Herrmann>Morricone>Barry>Williams>Prince, no argument!

Lost Themes was a revelation last year, as it matched his moody cinematic soundscapes with propulsive electronic beats and moments of genuine euphoria, and its sequel is JUST as good. Plus you’ll be able to see John Carpenter live in the actual flesh on these European dates…

He’s probably not as scary in real life as you might expect. More like a friendly but slightly reckless grandad who, after your parents have left you in his care for the evening, will sneak you some brandy and let you watch Tales of the Unexpected.
