Kyary Pamyu Pamyu to play London Koko this July

18 April, 2016 — by Christopher Ratcliff0

For those of you who’ve had ‘Ponponpon’ lodged in their brain for the last five years because NO other pop song has come remotely close to dislodging it (the song’s sticky sweetness is comparable to a particularly stubborn old lollipop found on your carpet) we bring you great news: J-Pop sensation Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is coming back to London to play a headline show on July 8th at Koko.

If you’re unfamiliar with Kyaru’s work, imagine a hybrid of Bjork, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, who manages to not only out-weird and out-cute all three, but also writes better pop songs.

Don’t believe me? Here you go…

I know right.

Kyary has so far released three full length albums, 11 singles, a string of award winning bat-shit crazy videos, has appeared on the covers of Dazed and Confused and Nylon and last September joined forces with Tate Modern to curate the Ey Exhibition, The World Goes Pop.

Kyary made a rare UK appearance last year at the Roundhouse, which was an eye-blistering spectacle to behold, and she’s coming back this July 8th to support her first greatest hits collection. I guarantee it will be unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before. Unless you’ve drank a whole bottle of cough medicine and found yourself stage-invading a Disney on Ice production.

Tickets are available now.
