We may as well finish out the week exactly how we started it, with some hot Radiohead news action. Well, as hot as Radiohead get.
After teasing with us with a couple of Instagram videos, then paying little attention to the art of the ‘long game’ by immediately dropping the full Wicker Man in Trumpton style horror of ‘Burn the Witch‘, Radiohead have basically spunked all their creative load in one week by releasing a brand new video called ‘Daydreaming’ directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and announcing that their new album will be out this Sunday May 8th.
Here’s the video, featuring an unpleasantly-haired Thom Yorke wondering around various unconnected locations for what feels like hours on end. Or maybe that was Inherent Vice. Ho ho ho, burn on Paul Thomas Anderson, amirite?
The album title hasn’t been revealed yet (update: it’s called A Moon Shaped Pool) and who knows what streaming/download sites it will be available from (despite ‘Burn the Witch’ being available on Spotify). Best to just watch out for it on the official Radiohead website, rather than upset Thom any further.
Anyway, you’re all probably outside enjoying the sun and having a lovely time rather than reading this. In fact I could say anything I like here. Hey, it’s been a good day though right? The Tories got kicked out of London. That Boaty McBoatface thing reached an amicable conclusion. It’s over 20 degrees outside. I mean, all of this is a bit moot as I’m going to spend a substantial amount of the weekend alone in the dark playing Doom and listening to Radiohead, but you know… it’s nice that you have a functional life outside of the internet. Well done you.
Radiohead’s album will be available at 7pm UK time (2 p.m. Eastern time) on May 8th and physically June 17th.
