26 July, 2016 — by Toni Ratcliff0

Heeyyy…. How you doing? Long time no see! Nice tan!

I haven’t written one of these for a while as, quite frankly, I couldn’t be arsed. But it turns out there are still a lot of cool things happening in the world of London food news so I thought I would do a super quick round up of things that I have been most excited about over the last couple of weeks.

My Slice Fest: Pizza Festival

D’ya remember we mentioned way back in March that this summer would see the awesome mashup of pizza and music in the form of a festival? Well the wait is over, my friends! This Saturday 30th July 2016 sees the opening of MySliceFest in Wembley Park where that dream will be realised.

Gates open around midday so be sure to get down there to consume as many slices as your body can hold. There will also be a whole host of DJs performing so you can dance off those calories, if you can still move after your carb coma… Tickets cost £25 and are available from the MySliceFest website.

Django Bango Gold Rush

Like ribs? Check! Like cocktails? Check! Like cowboys? What?! Never mind… But if you like the first two plus enjoy eating your dinner in a ‘different setting’ then check out Django Bango Gold Rush: an immersive Wild West dining experience in Vauxhall. We went down there a few weeks back to check it out and had a blast! Django Bango runs every Friday and Saturday evening until 1st October 2016 so grab your horse and mosey on down.

Rök Opens in Islington

Great news everyone! Rok is one of our favourite restaurants and it has spread it’s little Swedish wings and opened a second branch in Islington. Hooray! Rök (Swedish for ‘smoke’) is, you guessed it, a smoke house serving up a small but perfectly formed list of delicious Swedish dishes. It was also one of the best meals I ate in the whole of last year. GO NOW!

Meat Liquor Brunch

Holy Dead Hippie burger! MeatLiquor are doing brunch now! But…. only in Bristol. To start with. The MeatLiquor gang launched their brunch menu in the south-west a couple of weeks back with meaty treats such as your standard Full English breakfast, pancakes with bacon and sausage and of course, a breakfast burger. If it is anything as good as their normal burgers then it will be f-ing phenomenal! They say that brunch will be rolled out to their London sites soon so get ready to run.

Free Ice Cream: Ben & Jerry’s

Ok, stop what you’re doing: Ben & Jerry’s are giving away FREE ice cream again! Just like last summer they’ll be parking their Ben & Jerry’s van in various spots around London and giving away free scoops of their S’Wich Up ice cream: vanilla ice cream with chocolatey cookie swirls, cookie sandwiches and cookie dough chunks. Just follow @benandjerrysUK on Twitter and keep an eye out for any updates. Word on the street though is that you should probably nonchalantly lurk around these places if you want to some of that delicious free, icey, creamy stuff:

Ok, I’m gonna go and pretend to do some work now when really I’m just looking out of the window daydreaming about the pub garden.

Still hungry? Here’s another round-up of London food news featuring bottomless craft beer.
