Japandroids announce new album and it’s about bloody time

In further proof that there is no way in hell 2017 is going to start as badly as 2016, Japandroids have announced a brand new album called Near to the Wild Heart of Life, out January 27th on Anti.

You can even listen to the title track from it RIGHT NOW…

Great timing Japandroids! They have an uncanny knack for making you feel utterly indestructible in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, so this adrenaline shot of rock n’ roll is exactly what we all need right now.

It’s been a long time coming, their second album Celebration Rock came out in 2012 and after playing 200 shows in more than 40 countries you can understand their need for a rest.

And hey, we always had ’Sovereignty’ to tide us over. Speaking of which…

Ah, that’s the good shit.

New album, Near To The Wild Heart Of Life, was written in secret throughout 2014 and 2015 in Vancouver, Toronto, New Orleans, and Mexico City. And just like their previous two albums, it will contain 8 tracks. Because that’s the number of tracks found on all the greatest rock and roll albums (Raw Power, Master of Puppets, Marquee Moon, Led Zeppelin IV, uh… tATu’s 200Km/h in the Wrong Lane).

The title track will also be available on 7” single with a B-side cover of Talking Heads’ ‘Love→ Building on Fire’ if you pre-order the album at www.japandroids.com.

And while we pretend to be a proper music news website, here’s the tracklist for the album, which is what all grown-up music news websites do when they need to make up a minimum word count. Hmmm, I’ve said too much.
