PUP DVP Official Video

Welcome to our weekly(ish) round-up of brilliant(ish) new music videos. This week we have nothing but fun stuff from PUP, The Manor, Clean Cut and Modular.

What do you mean you haven’t heard of any of these bands before? Gee, go back to your church tea party GRANDAD!!!

*Yes Grandad, yes I’ll be there at 3pm. I’m sorry Grandad, it was a joke, I haven’t heard of PUP or Modular either. Yes I’ll bring a nice Battenberg. No I won’t be late.*

PUP – DVP [Dir: Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux]

The Canadian punk-rock band gets drunk after three beers and should “grow up” according to their put-upon girlfriend. She’s probably right. Three beers!!?? As for the video, featuring their song lyrics seamlessly super-imposed over old 8-bit video games… Well, as long as you love Road Rash as much as we do, you can be a childish lightweight for as long as you like.

The Manor – ‘Don’t Like Going Places’ [Dir: Elliot Simpson]

A moody slice of techno-infused hip-hop about how it’s much better staying in then going out that name-checks Pauline Fowler, a nice cup of tea, and Game of Thrones. We will now refer to this as agoraphobe-hop.

Warning: contains strobe lights and liberal use of the term “birds.”

Clean Cut Kid – ‘Pick Me Up’ [Dir: Joe Connor]

Young man blithely cleans fancy house while listening to his giant 80s Walkmen. It’s exactly like the movie House of the Dead only the protagonist doesn’t get slaughtered by a Satanic murder cult but instead is haunted by an indie band who unconvincingly pretend to play their instruments as if they’ve only just picked them up for the first time ever.

Modular – Fiebre En La Disco (CCCP Remix By Copy Cat Project) [dir. Directed Jean-Marie Marbach]

A future in which the head of Adam Buxton is trapped inside a television and this bearded cyborg has to spend his days judging disco dancing competitions and making the unsuccessful entrants explode with his mind until he finds his perfect mate.

In terms of other hypothetical dystopian futures… it could be worse.
